Head Start located in Monmouth, Galesburg, Abingdon, Knoxville and Oquawka is a school readiness program and they have been able to comply with COVID-19 guidelines and re-open for summer school. Family Services Manager, Lisa Medina Foshay explains…
“That’s really limited, again because of the number of children we are able to have four classrooms with 10 kids in each class. We really selected those children that will be going on to kindergarten to try an ease them into that transition of “OK this is what I do on a daily basis in a classroom before I actually get to that kindergarten classroom.” And then we are also focusing on our children that have an IEP, which is Individualized Education Plan, and that’s for those children that might require speech services or some other type of specific additional services from our agency. “
Foshay says this will prepare them to open in the fall adhering to the Phase 4 guidelines.
