Chicago Little League Team Attempting To Regain Championship

Share

The parents of players on the 2014 Jackie Robinson West Little League team in Chicago can now move forward with a lawsuit to reinstate their championship. The Illinois Appellate Court recently ruled that the Little League did not follow their own rules by verifying and addressing eligibility before or during the World Series tournament. The JRW team was comprised mostly of African American boys ages 10 to 12 from the city’s South Side. Their title was stripped after it was found that they used a falsified boundary map for recruiting players. Meanwhile, several players from that JRW team have gone on to success. Among them is shortstop Ed Howard, who was selected 16th overall by the Cubs in last month’s MLB Draft.
