Helen M. Chambers, age 96, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at
Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 7:57 am. Helen was born on May 28, 1924 on the farm south of Biggsville, IL and
is the daughter of Floyd and Helen Leona South Johnson. Helen was raised
in Henderson County where she attended local schools. She married Donald
C. Chambers on September 27, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her
in death on June 6, 1994. Helen was a cook for many years at the
Biggsville Grade School, She loved to bowl with her friends at Country
Fun and loved all sports. In younger years she loved to play softball
locally.

Helen is survived by her sisters, Loris Blackburn of San Angelo, Texas
and Alleyne Kress of Denver, Colorado, two brothers, Edwin Johnson and
Clifford Johnson, both of Biggsville, Illinois. There is one grandchild,
Janeen Chambers and Carl of Oquawka, IL, two great grandchildren, Kelly
Meredith and John of Gladstone, IL and Michael Hurka and Felicia of
Burlington, IA. There are four great-great grandsons, Alex, Austin,
Kaden, and Jackson also surviving. She is preceded in her death by her
parents, husband Donald, her son “Jack” and daughter in law Becky, and
four brothers, Walter, Gerald, Everett, and Earl.

Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of her care locally. As
per her wishes, no visitation or funeral service is currently being
planned by her family. Cremation is to be accorded. Interment of her
ashes will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery at a later date. To
