David G. Lantz, Sr., 82, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 10:30 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in Monmouth, IL
He was born August 10, 1937 in Monmouth, IL the son of Earl Warren and Mazie Lillian (Black) Lantz. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1955.
David married Martha Jane Pullen in Monmouth on November 30, 1956.
David was a Heavy Equipment Operator running a Caterpillar End Loader at the Monmouth Stone Quarry for 34 years before retiring in 2003. He was also a member of the Monmouth Auxiliary Police Dept. for 15 years and the Warren County Sheriff Auxiliary Dept. for 15 years.
He was a member of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge #37 and the Rural Arch Mason Warren County Chapter #37. David served with the United States Army Reserve in Galesburg for 9 years earning the rank of Staff SGT. He was an active collector of watch fobs and heavy equipment die cast toys. He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Survivors include his 4 children, Laura (Jack) Armstrong of Monmouth, David (Sherry) Lantz, Jr. of Sunrise Beach MO, Chris Lantz of Monmouth and Rob (Aaran) Lantz of Monmouth; 9 grandchildren, Tanya Johnson, Josh (Heather) Lewis, Ryan (Caylin) Armstrong, Heather Swank, Ian Simons, Hannah Simons, Melinda (Joe) Hargis, Callie Lantz and Nick Lantz; 10 Great Grandchildren, Brianna Pierce, Erin (Denver) Strange, Alex Feit, Brendan Lewis, Jackson Lewis, Tyler Armstrong, Noah Swank, McKenna Simons, and Kaylie Macklin; 5 great great grandchildren, Klaryssa Pierce, Peighton Strange, Zander Strange, Tucker Lewis and Zoey Lewis; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter and son in law, Cynthia (Marvin) Lewis; one great grandson, Ryder Armstrong; 4 brothers, Robert Lantz, Rex Lantz, Charles “Chuck” Lantz and Donald Lantz; 3 sisters, Dorothy McCrery, Mary Jane McMaster and Ora Pauline “Boots” Winbigler; 3 brothers in law, and 2 sisters in law.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Monmouth Cemetery. Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, August 7, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriners Crippled Children Hospital. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing during the visitation and services.
