Macomb and West Hancock Will Be a Part of Spring Prairieland Football Schedule

The Macomb Bombers and West Hancock Titan football teams finally have a place to call home…….at least for one season. According to Abindon-Avon Athletic Director Reid Kelso, the Macomb and West Hancock high school football teams accepted an invitation to join the Prairieland Conference for the modified spring sports season. The Prairieland was looking for a way to balance its schedule and ease travel for the upcoming season. Macomb and West Hancock, along with Quincy Notre Dame, have been a part of the 3-team West Central Conference for the past several seasons. Abingdon-Avon and Knoxville are leaving the Prairieland for the Lincoln Trail staring with the 2021-2022 school year. The new-look football Prairieland for the spring will be made up of two divisions, a small school and a big school. In the small school division will be Lewistown, South Fulton, Abingdon-Avon, Havana, Illini West and Rushville/Industry. The big school division will be made up of Knoxville, Farmington, Elmwood/Brimfield, Macomb, West Hancock and the Bushnell-Prairie City/West Prairie co-op. Abingdon-Avon will not meet long-time rival Knoxville during the regular season. North Fulton left the Prairieland Conference last season, changing their football program to 8-man football. The proposed 7-week schedule will be made up of five in-division and two crossover games. The IHSA is most likely going to introduce a 2-week regional postseason but nothing has been set in stone as yet. The following is the final draft for the 2021 schedule. This schedule is for 2021 only.
