Mrs. Mary V. Stoneking, 91, of Mt. Zion, Illinois formerly of Knoxville, Illinois passed away at 11:44 pm Saturday, August 8, 2020 at her home.
Mary was born May 28, 1929 in Macon, Missouri the daughter of Thomas and Jewel (Ramsey) Bogeart. She married John Stoneking, Jr. on September 14, 1946 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2004.
Mary is survived by her brother, James (Barb) Bogeart of Macomb, Illinois; her son-in-law, J.C. Nashland of Mt. Zion; three grandchildren, Gale, Sean and Dan (Rebecca) Nashland; seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Carlene Nashland, two brothers, Michael E. and Thomas Bogeart and three sisters, Francis M. Faught, Marjorie Allen and Roberta Jo Ritchie.
Mary displayed the attributes of a hard worker. She had worked for Admiral/Maytag Corporation, Gale Products, the former downtown Osco Drug store and was a gas station clerk on Main Street Galesburg. She also was an “Avon Lady” for many years. Mary was an avid Bingo player and had been a volunteer Bingo caller for the VFW. Mary was member of the Moose Lodge #880. In her free time Mary enjoyed listening to audiobooks.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Monday, August 17, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 pm at the chapel. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
