Know the Signs of a Stroke

Stroke awareness is important for everyone, but more so for those with diabetes, informs OSF HealthCare Holy Family Diabetes Education Coordinator Tina Canada:

“People with diabetes are two to four times more likely to have atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which puts them more at risk for heart attacks or strokes than for people without diabetes. That is a real increased risk. Learning about stroke awareness can be really important for any of us, but especially for people with diabetes or prediabetes,” Canada states.

The Diabetes Support Group will meet at OSF Holy Family on Monday, September 28th, where Tracy Smith will share her own personal story on diabetes and stroke.
