Jim was better known as Cochise “Coch”, starting from his teen years throughout his life. He was a great story-teller who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an expert chess player, always looking for that opponent who would challenge him.  He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan and celebrated the Cubs Championship win.  He took joy in a long family tradition of gifting Eagle Brand Pudding during the holidays.

He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 10, succumbing to the disease in the last several years.

There will be a private family viewing, Thursday evening.  Cremation and private burial will be Friday, at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, the family, or a charity of your choosing.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
