CDC to Require Negative COVID-19 Test for International Travelers

Share

If you want to travel out of the country and return home you’ll have to test negative for COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirement expands on a similar one announced late last month for passengers coming from the United Kingdom.

Most countries and resorts will likely offer a COVID test a few days before your return home, according to Tim Davis with Direct Travel in Bloomington. But what if you test positive?

“There is talk that the resort will set aside certain rooms, I mean they are only running at about 40 to 45% occupancy, so they have half of the rest of the resort. If for some reason someone does test positive, they will be able to go back to the resort and be accommodated until they can get to a place where they do test negative or have the fourteen day quarantine over.”

Davis says this new requirement is still in the early stages and more information will be released over the next week.

The new order from the CDC takes effect January 26th.
