Mrs. Loretta Mae Brasche-Holmes, 87, of Galesburg passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021, at her home.
Loretta was born August 8, 1933 in Monmouth, the daughter of Wilber Dell and Dorethy M. (Montgomery) Foster. She married Donald Brasche in 1949 in Springfield. They were married 50 years before he passed away. She later married John Holmes in 2007 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death.
Loretta is survived by her children, David (Sheryl) Brasche, Pam Riley, and Deborah Mayhew, all of Galesburg; her brothers, Larry Foster of Gladstone and Richard (Diana) Foster of Oquawka; her sisters, Mary Taylor of Banning, California and Charlotte Coursey of Burlington, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean Brasche; an infant daughter, Cindy Brasche; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Foster; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Taylor and Tom Coursey.
Loretta worked 40 years as a retail sales associate, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Loretta enjoyed reading, gardening, and making crafts. She had a love for riding horses and had owned several throughout her life. Loretta enjoyed traveling, she even had toured countries in Europe. Loretta was known to maintain beautiful flower gardens at her home.
Loretta’s wishes were to be cremated with a burial in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. A celebration will be held at a later date when all can gather.
