Utility Bill Assistance Available Locally through the WIRC Low Income Home Energy Program

Share

Through the Western Illinois Regional Council Community Action Agency, the low income home energy assistance program remains to be available to those who qualify, explains Public Relations Manager Jamie Roth:

“This is a program that helps people fitting in certain income guidelines with paying their utility bills and because of the pandemic; the income guidelines for this program have increased. It used to be at 150% of the poverty level and now it is up to 200%. Chances are if you applied in the past and didn’t fit within the income guidelines, you might qualify now. We are encouraging people to contact us. You can call our main line at 309-837-2997 and we can talk to you and see if you can qualify for that program. There is plenty of money available, but it is also for a limited time so we want people to call sooner rather than later.”

This one-time payment assistance program is offered in Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren Counties.
