Age Appropriate Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Now Mandated in all IL Public Schools

Counseling services for children is on the rise. Western Illinois Regional Council Sexual Assault Program Coordinator and Preventionist Debbie has these alarming statistics:

“One if four girls will be sexually assaulted by the time she is eighteen. One in six boys will be sexually assaulted by the time he is eighteen. One in three young people will experience teen dating violence and one in ten high schoolers will be purposely hit or slapped by the time they are in high school.”

Under Erin’s Law in Illinois, Debbie shares WIRC has returned to presenting in-person mandated Pre-K through 12th grade age appropriate body safety programs at local schools to recognize child sexual abuse and tell a trusted adult. Virtual one-on-one lessons for children are also available. For more information, call Debbie at 309-836-2148.
