With more chances of thunderstorms in the forecast, City of Monmouth Communications Director Ken Helms clarifies when the sirens are set off for warning:
“There is a couple different ways that we activate the sirens. If there is ever wind that is over 70 miles per hour or if there is spotted or likely hail that is going to be larger than golf ball sized or of course if there is a tornado, then we activate the warning sirens as well. Basically if they are going off and it’s not a Tuesday at ten o’clock, you kind of need to get inside.”
