WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for Week Ending May 5, 2024


Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 5, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Jake Steele. Jake went 4-for-5 at the plate in a win over Bureau Valley. He scored three runs and blasted a pair of doubles. Jake led the team in extra base hits and runs scored for the week, hitting .412 in three games.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is freshman boys track and field athlete, Parker Tinkham. In just his first Lincoln Trail Conference championship meet, Parker found himself on top of the podium. He jumped 5′ 10 3/4″ in the high jump competition to capture the first place medal. Parker is also a long-distance runner with several top-10 finishes this season in the 800 meter run.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Addie Seitz. Addie used her bat and her pitching arm to help the Heat go (7-0) last week. At the plate, she batted .500, scored 11 runs and knocked in 13 runs. Addie also blasted her 6th and 7th home runs of the year, while pitching 25 innings, giving up just two earned runs with 32 strikeouts.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Damien Snell. Damien had an outstanding offensive day in Western Big Six Conference double header against Rock Island. He went 6-for-8, with a home run and a double. Damien knocked in five runs on the day and scored a pair of runs.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore track and field athlete, Carter Stroot. After the Lincoln Trail Conference championship meet was completed, Carter was wearing three 1st place medals around his neck. He crossed the line first in both of the 200 and 400 meter dashes. Carter was also on the winning 4×200 meter relay team.
