Evelyn L. Smith, 82, of Galesburg, died peacefully Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at home with her family by her side.

She was born November 10, 1938 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Dupree and LueLillie (Bond) Smith. Evelyn is survived by two sons, LeVoy (Irene) Smith of Dixon and Timothy (Stacy) Smith of Galesburg; two daughters, Debbie Smith and Patricia Smith, both of Galesburg; four brothers, Charles (Virgie) Smith of Topeka, KS, Ollie Roy Smith of Galesburg, Thomas Smith of Topeka, KS, and Robert Smith of Bloomington. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Trevor, David, Nathaniel, Matt, Alicia, Jason, Quinton, Seth, Brett and Kortez; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gregory D. Smith; two brothers, James Smith and J.C. Smith; and a sister, Mary Smith.

Evelyn was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed cooking, going for walks, garage sales, and absolutely loved watching soap operas.  She was a member of Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Galesburg.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
