Marion Gertrude (McGavin) Pool, 101, of DeLand Florida, a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, went home to be with her Savior on July 7, 2021.

Marion was born to Roy McGavin and Gertrude (MacFarlane) McGavin on November 4, 1919 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Marion graduated from Canton High School in Canton, Illinois in 1938.  She went on to attend MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.  She was united in marriage to Dale Pool on June 1, 1941.  They began their married life in Barberton, Ohio.  Subsequently, they moved to Borger, Texas and to Wabash, Indiana where they established many lifelong friendships.  In 1954 they moved to Avon, Illinois where they remained until they relocated to DeLand, Florida in 2006.

Marion was a long-time active member of the Prairie City Presbyterian Church and was their first female Clerk of Session.  Marion devoted her life to being a Christian role model.  She was active in her community through volunteer efforts including regularly playing the piano in her church and at local nursing homes and bringing her grandchildren to entertain the nursing home residents.  She enjoyed staying connected to her family through email and her families’ Facebook even to the last days of her life.  She was an avid NBA fan from its inception, clearly recalling games throughout its history.  She loved all dogs including her dog, Topsie, the family dog, Poochie, and all her grand-dogs which she completely spoiled especially grand-dog Buster.

Marion is survived by her family which was her pride and joy: Thomas (Jean) Pool of Rochester, Minnesota, David (Paula) Pool of Crane Lake, Minnesota, and Kathryn Cowdery of Deland, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and her daughter, Margaret Goldner, of Seattle, Washington.  Marion is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
