Program has been honored five straight years

MONMOUTH, ILL – (07/21/2021) For a record fifth year in a row and the 10th time since 2009, the Monmouth College volleyball team has earned the prestigious USMC/American Volleyball Coaches Association academic team award. The award is based on team GPA with a minimum 3.30 needed to qualify for the award.

“Once again, the team continues to amaze me! With ALL the challenges we had this last school, no fall or spring season, the team remained focused on their academics. It is amazing to watch them grow off the court, I can’t wait to see it all pay off this fall!” said Scots head coach Emily Thebeau.

The volleyball program won the award for the first time in 2009 and then earned four straight from 2011-14. The current streak started with the 2016 season and this is the third straight under coach Thebeau.

The 2021 volleyball team will report to campus in mid-August to begin practice for the upcoming season. Coach Thebeau and her team return to the court on Wednesday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m. against Lincoln Christian University. That match will be the first for the program since November 2, 2019 and the 2021 roster features 11 freshmen, three sophomores and one transfer who will all be making their Monmouth debuts.
