Rosemary P. Johnson, 85, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 3:48 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Generations at Peoria.
She was born on April 20, 1936, in Galesburg, daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Stegall) Smith. She married Herbert Johnson on August 5, 1956, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death March 9, 2004.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Scott (Amy) Johnson of Peoria Heights; her daughter-in-law, Roxanne Johnson of Abingdon, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brandon (Kendra) Johnson, Summer (Josh) Griffith, Shannon (Robert) Sloan, and Sunshine (Ryan Thomas) Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, preceding her in death are her parents, and one son, Larry “Rocky” Johnson on November 15, 2017.
Rosemary worked as a babysitter, homemaker, and helped with newspaper deliveries, before retiring. She was a member of the Allen Park Baptist Church and loved spending time with her family in her free time, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private graveside service has been scheduled for the family at the Knoxville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
