Brenda J. Oaks, 73, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 7:50 am, Sunday, August 1, 2021 at her home.

Brenda was born December 8, 1947 in Hopkinsville, KY, the daughter of Durwood and Virginia (Gilkey) Burgess.  Her family moved to Monmouth, IL in 1957 where she attended Monmouth Schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1965. 

Brenda married Howard Oaks in Monmouth, IL on September 27, 1969.

Following her graduation from High School Brenda worked for GE Telephone for a time then she worked several years at Maytag in Galesburg, IL; 15 years at Precision Resistor in Mediapolis, IA and equally with her husband when they raised livestock.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Survivors include her caregiver, Howard Oaks of Monmouth, IL; her sisters. Diane Nesbitt of Oquawka, IL, Pat Selby of Monmouth, IL, Donna Toops of Little York, IL, Tena Burgess of Monmouth, IL Ronda Burgess of Galesburg, IL and Stacey Burgess of Monmouth, IL; her brother Tracey Burgess of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Burgess.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL; Interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park.  Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:30-11:00 am at the funeral home.
