Leslie Raymond “Lil Blackie” Blackman, 82, of Little York, IL passed away at 12:10 am, Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home
He was born January 24, 1939 in Warren County, IL the son of Leslie G. and Hallie B. (Hollis) Blackman. He was raised and educated in Warren County, attending Pleasant Green and Seaton grade schools and later Aledo High School.
Les married Janet Faye Blansett in Aledo, IL on December 13, 1957 and she passed away May 12, 1971. He later married Connie Starkey in Monmouth, IL on September 17, 1971 and she passed away on March 22, 2021.
Les worked Monmouth Grain and Dryer, Snyder Bulldozing, Hall Enterprises, Glasstex and lastly as a truck driver at Twomey Grain Company.
He enjoyed dancing with Connie, playing cards with friends, gardening, woodworking, Iron working and time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Timothy (Ginger) Blackman of Palm Beach, FL and Leslie “Rob” (Paula) Blackman of Lake Placid, FL; and daughter, Jenny (John) Klingler of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Tonya (Dan) Fisher of Pouisdo, WA, Trisha Blackman of Palm Beach Garden, FL, Robert (Brianna) Blackman of Monmouth, IL, Rebecka Livingston of Little York, IL, Jeremy Livingston of Morrison, IL, Jackelyn (Gabriel) Golden of Galesburg, IL, Alex (Stacey) Hendrickson of Lake Placid, FL, Amanda Hendrickson of Galesburg, IL, Maisie (Butch) Crowley of Galesburg, IL and Tyler Hendrickson of Lake Placid, FL; four great grandsons, Levi Golden of Galesburg, IL, Curtis Blackman of Monmouth, IL, Maxwell Blackman of Monmouth, IL, Xander Blackman of Monmouth, IL; great granddaughter, Mary Jo Golden of Galesburg, IL; Also surviving is his “son” Terry Isenberg of Little York, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Laurie Sue Blackman; 1 great grandchild; 3 brothers, Wallace Blackman, Elza Blackman and George Blackman; 2 nephews, John Blackman and Stevie Blackman and 1 fur baby, Wiggly Tail.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 6, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be at Little York Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Little York Cemetery or the Little Cedar Church.
