West Central School District 235 will continue it’s mask optional plan

In an official social media post from a local source known as River Rat News, the West Central School Board voted 5-2 Tuesday night in favor of keeping a masks optional plan for the upcoming school year. River Rat Newspaper reports “A large crowd filled a hot gymnasium to show support for a continued mask optional plan for West Central District 235.
Eleven people addressed the board in support of the continued plan, including Illinois State Senator Neil Anderson. Board Member Dillan Vancil then made a motion to keep the current mask optional plan in place. The motion was seconded by Sarah Bigger.
There was a lengthy discussion among board members both for and against keeping the plan along with many questions for their attorney. School Board President Brendan Schaley then called for a roll call vote.

Brendan Schaley: YES
Steve Lumbeck: NO
Jodi Arnold: NO
Motion Carried.
West Central District 235 will continue it’s mask optional plan already in place.
