Harry E. Durbin, age 85, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 12:34 am on Sunday September 27, 2021 at Serenity Health Care in Galesburg, Illinois. Harry was born on September 1, 1936 in the Abingdon area, and is the son of Hugh and Grace Virginia Kennedy Durbin. He was raised in Abingdon, Illinois where he attended schools and graduated from Abingdon High School. After school Harry served his country in the United State Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and was a waiter in food service. Harry married Kathryn Elizabeth Obermiller on June 23, 1962 in Abingdon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 26, 2008.  Harry began work as a butcher in a butcher shop in Abingdon, Illinois for a time. He then was employed on the kill floor at Agar of Monmouth for a number of years and then at Wilson Foods as “brineman”. He later was transferred to Oklahoma with Wilson Foods where he was employed until his retirement. Harry loved oil painting and was a fan of Bob Ross on television. He also was very involved with Citizen’s Band Radio and his handle was ”  Pickle Man “. Harry is survived by three sons, Jeff Durbin and Jalene of Monmouth, Illinois, Todd Durbin and Thom Kelly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Troy Durbin and Lauren of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also surviving. Harry’s sister survives, Virginia “Jenny” VanNatta of Bushnell, Illinois. Harry is preceded in his death by his parents and three brothers, Kenneth, David, and Lloyd. 

As were his wishes, no visitation or funeral service is currently being planned by his family. Cremation is to be accorded. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is charge of his care. To leave a remembrance or for more information please visit www.turnbullfunealhomes.com
