The Galesburg Area Vocational Center offers career technical training for high school students in the Monmouth-Roseville, United, Galesburg, West Central, Abingdon-Avon, Knoxville and ROWVA school districts.

Ken Springer, executive director of the Knox County Area Partnership, explains the center’s role in helping to develop the hands-on training needed in various areas of the business and service community:

“I can’t stress enough about how important career technical education is for our region,” Springer said Monday during an interview on WRAM’s “Community Hour”.

“Anybody who’s been out there talking to companies in the last few years,” Springer said, “you will hear how difficult it is to find workers for a wide variety of industries.

“To me, institutions like the Galesburg Area Vocational Center are absolutely instrumental in being able to fill up our regional industries with the talent they need in order to be successful.”

An Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to Noon Thursday, October 14th, at the Galesburg Area Vocational Center’s new building, which is located at 940 West Fremont Street.

For more information about the open house, as well as the various programs available at the vocational center, visit its website at gavc.org.
