Alan L. Anderson I, age 73, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:13 PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Unity Point, Methodist in Peoria, Illinois.
Alan was born on June 12, 1948 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Edwin and Ida (Craig) Anderson. He attended Galesburg High School and ROVA High School. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He married Connie Anderson on September 21, 1970 in Galesburg, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Connie Anderson of Galesburg, Illinois, his children: Tina (Ronald) James of Galesburg, Illinois, Alice (Kevin) Leverette of Cambridge, Illinois, Alan (Glenna) Anderson II of Galesburg, Illinois, Steven Anderson of Galesburg, Illinois, Rebecca Anderson of Galesburg, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Anderson II of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, youngest brother, Roger Anderson, and step-father, Daddy Jake.
He worked as a conductor for BNSF Railroad, Galesburg, Illinois for 38 years. He was a former member of the Elks in Galesburg, Illinois and the VFW of Galesburg, Illinois. He was a Quad City River Bandits fan, avid CUBS fan and a NASCAR collector.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the First Church of God, 1080 Harrison Street, Galesburg, IL, 61401. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Special Olympics. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory have been entrusted with his arrangements.
