Cora J. Peterson, 79, of Galesburg, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at home.

She was born October 18, 1942, in Copley Township, Knox County, Illinois, the daughter of Gordon and Virginia (Henry) Stout.

She is survived by four children, Tracy Morgan of Galesburg, Teresa (Mark) Keene of Saukville, Wisconsin, Rick Peterson of Galesburg, and Melissa Peterson; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Greg Peterson; and two brothers, Charles Stout and Lance Scott.

Cora graduated from Galesburg High School in 1960 and later earned her associate’s degree from Carl Sandburg College.  She worked as an X-ray Tech at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and also in transportation for the Mary Davis Home, before retiring.  She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she helped with youth Bible study.  Cora loved to cook and to spend time with her family and dear friends, including her lady’s card club. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at First Church of the Nazarene.  Memorial contributions may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care, Hospice Compassus, or First Church of the Nazarene.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
