The Monmouth College men’s and women’s cross-country teams traveled to Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday to run in the Division III Midwest Region Cross Country Championships. The men ran first with an 8k race and placed twenty-second as a team. They were followed by the women with a 6k race who placed twentieth as a team. On the men’s side, the Scots’ top finisher was Senior Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) who placed 64th with a 26:06.6. The next fastest Scot was freshman William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) who placed 127th overall with a 27:42.7, and behind him was senior C.J. Bonifer (Columbia, Kentucky) who finished 144th with a 28:04.0. Sophomore Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) placed 151st with a 28:13.1, freshman Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) finished 159th with a 28:31.5, senior Jonah Cecil (Farmington, Illinois) finished 164th with a 28:44.9, and freshman Xavion York placed 173rd with a 29:35.4.
For the women, senior Arika Hofman (Monmouth, Illinois) was the Scots’ top runner, placing 76th with a 11:50.9. Senior Ezzie Baltierra-Chavez (Denver, Colorado) finished 103rd overall with a 12:03.0, senior Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois) placed 106th with a 12:07.8, and senior Mik Moore (Washington, Illinois) finished 109th with a 12:07.8. Sophomore Gabriela Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) finished 147th with a 12:58.5, sophomore Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) placed 156th with a 13:14.3, and senior Carolina Cruz (Monmouth, Illinois) finished 171st with a 13:56.5.
