For the City of Galesburg residents, yard waste will soon change to the winter collection schedule and will only be collected monthly, rather than weekly.
City of Galesburg’s residential yard waste collection occurs weekly on the properties’ assigned waste collection day annually from March 1st through November 30th. The City’s contracted solid waste hauler, Waste Management, operates this program. The weekly collection of yard waste will end on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Yard waste is collected monthly during the winter months of December, January, and February.
December 2021 through February 2022, residential yard waste will be collected on properties’ assigned waste collection day the weeks of:
• December 6-10, 2021
• January 10-14, 2022
• February 7-11, 2022
Weekly yard waste collection will resume on Monday, March 7, 2022.
During cold weather, do not use metal trash containers for yard waste. The yard waste will freeze to metal trash containers and will not be able to be emptied from the container. Please use paper yard waste bags or plastic trash containers for yard waste in cold weather.
