Mark R. Gillen, 49, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 6:50 am, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at his home.

Mark was born March 14, 1972 in Monmouth, IL, the son of John E. and Ann (Gibson) Gillen.  He was raised and educated in Warren County, graduating from Roseville High School in 1990. He later graduated from Western Illinois University in 1994 with a degree in Animal Science.

Mark married Stefani Hippensteel on November 30, 2002 in Galesburg, IL and she survives.

Mark was a self-employed farmer working and raising cattle on the family farm just south of Monmouth his entire life. Most recently Mark also worked for Thompson Trucking.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth.  He was a member of the Warren County Fair Board for over 20 years, the Tri-County Cattleman Association, former President of the WIU Ag Mech Club, and the Monmouth Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Stefani Gillen; his children, Addison Gillen and Jackson Gillen; his mother, Ann Gillen; sister, Andrea (Curt) Crum all of Monmouth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father; father in-law, Ned Hippensteel and sister in-law, Sherri Drauden.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00-6:00 pm, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  A private family service and interment at St. Mary Cemetery will take place.  Memorials may be given to the Mark R. Gillen Memorial Fund to be given to local charities at a later date. The memorials may be sent to the funeral home.
