Mr. Dale I. “D.I.” Truelove, 71, of Knoxville, Illinois died 11:01 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at his home. 

He was born May 11, 1952, in Galesburg, Illinois to H. Ivan and Genevieve Grace (Carlson) Truelove.  He married Roberta Brown, the mother of his two children.  He later married Karen Ghitalla on January 1, 1983, in Galesburg. 

Surviving is his wife of over 41 years, Karen Truelove of Knoxville, a son, Andrew Dale Truelove of Alabama, a daughter, Angela Kaye Truelove of Topeka, Kansas, three sisters, Nancy (and Leonard) Kull of Washington, Iowa, Maxine (and Calvin) Schroeder of Toulon, Illinois, and LaVon (and Dave) Swanson of Geneseo, Illinois, and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Dale graduated from Toulon High School in 1970.  Right out of high school he began working for Burlington Northern/ Sante Fe Railroad as a locomotive engineer.  He was an engineer for 45 ½ years and retired on October 15, 2015.  He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg and was a member of the church choir.  He was also a member of the Galesburg Community Chorus.  Dale enjoyed watching local high school football and basketball teams and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.  In his free time, he enjoyed going to car shows, and buying and selling cars.  Dale loved traveling all over the world with his wife, Karen, and taking short trips with her on his motorcycle. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  The funeral will follow at 12:00 Noon on Friday at the Church.  Rev. Dave Mustain will officiate.  Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galesburg First United Methodist Church Music Program or Salary Support.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
