Sherrill Adcock, age 90, passed away on May 1, 2024, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, Illinois.

Sherrill was born January 21, 1934, the daughter of Cletus and Lavonne (Schroeder) Hartzell. She was raised in Victoria, Illinois, and graduated from R.O.V.A. High School in 1952.

Sherrill married Dale Peterson in June 1952. He died in 1965. Sherrill married Robert (Bob) Adcock on December 3, 1967. He died on May 31, 2014.

Sherrill worked at The Hospitality House Restaurant in Victoria, Illinois, and at medical offices in Galesburg, Illinois. She returned to college and earned an Associate’s Degree in Radiology Technology from Carl Sandburg College. She worked as an x ray technician until her retirement.

After retirement, Sherrill and Bob enjoyed traveling and spent winters in southern Texas where they made many friends.

Sherrill was a volunteer with the Monmouth Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Bootkickers Dance Group and Chorale Dynamics. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos. Sherrill enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Sherrill is survived by her children, Robin (Chuck) Boothby, and Randy (Deb) Peterson; step-son, David Adcock; grandchildren, Sara (Adam) Brock, and Ryan (Marybeth) Peterson; great-grandchild, Alyssa Burmood; and great-great grandchildren, Adley Anderson and Fynlee McGruder. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother, Neil Hartzell.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Bounce Back and OSF Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Sherrill.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorial graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Warren County Hope Cemetery. Rev. Scott Harris and Rev. Paul Lydic will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Gerlaw Christian Church or Warren County Hope Cemetery. Online condolences may be left on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
