As the Spring Semester gets underway on Tuesday, January 18th for Carl Sandburg College students, President Dr. Seamus Reilly says the year will look as normal as it can be during these unprecedented times with enrollment slightly down:
“As far as whatever the definition of normal is these days, we are about as normal as we can be. You will have read in the national news that a lot of people not taking advantage of education and the drop in enrollment due to a number of factors. Our enrollment is down a little bit, but maybe not as much as some others. We think a lot of that enrollment decline is due to uncertainties about education, K-12 education, daycare, and also opportunities that folks have to work, so we have a lot more folks working a lot more jobs, working a lot more hours if they are in a position. We are waiting to see how this market realigns.”
Meanwhile, through the Walter and Rose Sampson promise, high school students that graduate from schools in Knox or Warren Counties are eligible to apply for a tuition free post-secondary education from Carl Sandburg College.
