Illini win, Hawks fall

Kofi Cockburn posted his seventh straight double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds and Trent Frazier scored 16 points as Illinois rallied to beat Maryland 76-64 last night. Illinois is (11-3) and still perfect in Big Ten play at (4-0). Illinois travels to Nebraska next Tuesday.

Johnny Davis had 26 points and nine rebounds to help Wisconsin beat Iowa 87-78 for its fourth straight victory. The Badgers withstood a 27-point performance from Iowa’s Keegan Murray to snap the Hawkeyes’ four-game winning streak. Coming into the game, Murray was leading all of Division I in scoring. Davis was 3rd in the nation in scoring for Wisconsin. Iowa falls to (11-4) overall, but is now just (1-3) in the Big Ten. Wisconsin is (12-2) overall and a game behind the Illini at (3-1). Iowa hosts Indiana on Jan. 13.
