Mark S. Clegg, 66, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:13 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Care & Rehabilitation (formerly Heartland Health Care Center), Galesburg, IL. 

The son of Denzil O. and Beverly (Jurgens) Clegg, Mark was born on August 24, 1955 in Frankfurt, Germany at a military hospital. They briefly lived in Hanau, Germany before returning to the U.S.  His family moved around quite a bit during his childhood years with homes in Nelson, Neligh and Lincoln, NE; Madison, WI; Wayne, NE; Fort Collins, CO and finally Peoria, IL where he graduated from Richwoods High School in 1973.  He later graduated from the University of Illinois in 1977 with his Bachelors in Accountancy. 

In 1977 Mark started work at Murphy, Jenne & Jones in Monmouth where he earned his CPA. The firm later transitioned into McGladrey & Pullen where Mark worked in the Galesburg office until 2002.  He then went to work at Kleine/Martin Equipment in Galesburg, where he was currently working as CFO.  Mark married Lenna Burnett (1979-1997), with whom he raised his three children. 

Mark was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and sang in the choir for many years.  He was a long-time member of Choral Dynamics in Galesburg.  Mark was a U of I sports fan, and loved following the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls.  He enjoyed playing golf and tennis.  Mark was an avid coin collector.  He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting family all over the United States.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their activities. 

Surviving Mark are his children, Brian J. Clegg of Monmouth, IL, Angela K. (Kevin) Bowen of Hampshire, IL, E. Ashley (Kyle) Winbigler of Galesburg, IL; his grandchildren, Blake Bowen, Brody Bowen, Jackson Winbigler, Hannah Winbigler, Jordyn Winbigler; his parents, Denzil O. & Beverly J. Clegg of Fort Worth, TX; his siblings, Gary (Cindy) Clegg of Mooresville, NC, Ann (Mark) Bedford of Southlake, TX, Todd (Darby) Clegg of Brookfield, WI; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clegg of Sacramento, CA.  Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a great nephew.  

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Clegg. 

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth or Choral Dynamics.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
