“So God made a farmer.” Robert Lawrence (Larry) Enderlin, 83, of Monmouth, Illinois entered eternal life at 1:30 pm, Monday, January 24, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends. Larry was born on April 24, 1938 in Warren County, Illinois. Larry was the middle child of Lawrence and Verna (Noonan) Enderlin. He was raised on the family farm and attended grade school near the family farm at McGraw Corners. Larry was a graduate of Monmouth High School.

Larry married Alice Gavin Enderlin on November 26, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Larry and Alice lived on their grain and livestock farm North of Monmouth in Spring Grove Township until his retirement. Larry and Alice built their retirement home at Lake Warren. He was an active member and lifelong supporter of 4H and FFA. Larry was a lifelong Democrat and served as the Warren County Democratic Chairman for many years. He served on the Warren County Farm Bureau Board, was President of the Lake Warren Board of Directors and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

“Papa Enderlin” as named by his grandson, Logan, was very involved with the activities of his children and grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and loved hunting turkey and deer or fishing in the summer with them.

Larry is survived by his brother Reverend Ronald Enderlin of Lacon, Illinois; three beloved children, Kevin (Patricia) Enderlin of McKinney, Texas; Mary Jane Tucker of Monmouth, Illinois; and George (Lori) Enderlin of Smithfield, Virginia. He is also survived by eleven adored grandchildren: Rebecca (Joe) Lazaro, and Gavin Enderlin, Logan (Talya) Tucker, Caitlin Tucker, Drew, Ethan (Kaelyn), Sydney, Hanna, Cameron, Grace and Addison Enderlin;

6 great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Ella, and Lawrence Lazaro, Anna, Noah, Bailey Enderlin. Larry is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Alice, his parents, an infant twin sister Mary Jane, and his sister Liane Shunick.

God looked on the earth he created and said “I need a caretaker” and so God made a farmer.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, February 4, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be at St. Marys Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be at 9:00 am Friday morning at the church with a Rosary service to begin at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception School, Monmouth, IL.
