Wilma I. Sloan, age 96, of Kirkwood, Illinois; passed away at 4:29 am on Sunday January 16, 2022 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronhurst, Illinois. Wilma was born on March 29, 1925 in in the country at home near Nebo, Illinois       and is the daughter of Henry Elisha and Daisy I. Zumwalt Guthrie. Wilma was raised in Nebo and Baylis, IL where she attended local schools and graduated from Baylis three year high school and Pittsfield High School in 1942.  She was married to Donald Sloan on August 22, 1942 in Detroit, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2009. Wilma was a homemaker and a stay at home mom to her children. She sold Avon Products and was a  Nutrilite-Amway representative for many years. Wilma lived many years in Oakwood, Illinois where she was a member of the Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, and was Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Choir and was active in the women’s Fellowship. She also worked with the Boy Scouts, and Girl Scout and Illinois 4H.  She worked at Wiley Light Jewelry Store until retiring and moved to Kirkwood in 1988. She is a member of the Biggsville United Methodist Church where she was a Deacon and was active in the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed sewing for many years, making clothes for her children, grandchildren and herself. She crocheted making tree top angels, doilies, dolls and slippers. She also enjoyed doing cross stich. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Hull and Ed, dec’d  of Biggsville, Illinois and Judy Carl and Chuck of Ogden, IL. She has two sons, Gary Sloan and Debbie of Magnolia, TX, and Todd Sloan and Joan of South Barrington, Texas. There are eight grandchildren surviving, Tracy Wahlfeldt, Cary Sloan, Sherri Hampel, Camie Telthorster, Sara Hull and Amy Hull, Nicole Sloan, and Heather Sloan. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, Ashley, Jessica, Zachary, Max, and Christie. One Great Great Grandson, Carson and 13 Step Great and Great Great Grandchildren are also surviving.  There are numerous nieces and nephews also surviving her. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, son in law Eddie, three brothers and four sisters, and one step great granddaughter. 

A funeral service for Wilma I. Sloan is planned on Saturday January 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Biggsville Presbyterian Church in Biggsville, Illinois. Her interment will follow at the Monmouth Cemetery next to her husband, Donald. Her family plans visitation at the church for the hour prior to the funeral service and will receive their friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial fund is established by her family.
