Merle James Beckett 82, of Fairview, passed away on March 26, 2022, at 4:18 am in his home. He was born on June 19, 1939, the son of James Merle and Ruth L. (Smith) Beckett in Peoria Il.

He is survived by his son James Craig (Christine Naomi) Beckett of Arlington Heights, siblings; Phyllis McFarden, Mary (Ray) Moschel, Charlie (Pamela) Beckett, Shirley (Jim) Evans, Ida (Rich) Hammer, Dale (Patty) Beckett, Howard Beckett, Penny Beckett, Donald Beckett, and Debbie Beckett

He is preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Potter, John Beckett, and Richard Beckett.

James served in the United States Navy. After the Navy, he worked at Caterpillar for years. He loved his family, playing cards and dominos. James also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Online Condolences may be made at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com Wise Family Funeral Home, Avon is in charge of arrangements.
