Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Carmyn Huston. Carmyn was rewarded for hard work on the hardwood this season. Besides being a first-team member of the TRAC West Divison, she was also named to the IBCA Class 2A All-State Special Menton list. Carmyn was just a few votes short of also making the 2A Associated Press All-State team.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week are seniors Luci Kane and Karragan Sperry and sophomore Reece Bertelsen. These three girls received some respect from other coaches around the Lincoln Trail Conference this week. They were all named to the LTC’s All-Conference 2nd Team. Better yet, they were all three also named to the conference’s All-Academic team, as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Shelby Bowman. Shelby has made a huge splash on the local girls basketball scene since transferring back into the West Central School District. Following a fantastic sophomore season, she earned all-state status in both of the Associated Press and IBCA organizations. Shelby was a 2nd team member on the AP list and a 3rd team member of the IBCA’s tally.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athletes of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Jeremiah Babers. Jeremiah’s awesome senior season ended by earning All-Western Big Six Conference First-team honors. He led the conference in assists with over 6 per game and also scored just under 13 points a contest. Jeremiah was no slouch on the boards, either, averaging over four rebounds in conference games.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week are senior Ashley Jones and sophomore Brook Pieper. This dynamic duo was both recognized on the Associated Press and IBCA’s end-of-year’s All-State Team lists. Ashley and Brook were named to the AP’s Honorable Mention team and the IBCA’s Special Mention team. They were also named to the All Lincoln Trail Conference first team.

Congratulations to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors……. McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Kehoe Eye Care – Galesburg/Kehoe Eye Care – Monmouth
