Monmouth College Track & Field Turn in Strong Performances at Beloit Open

The Monmouth College track and field teams competed in the Beloit Open on Saturday, hosted by Beloit College at Strong Stadium in Wisconsin. The second outdoor meet of the season produced numerous individual winners and performances that rank atop the Midwest Conference.

Jordan Peckham (Farmington, Illinois) who won the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week award last week, won the 400m race and finished second in the 200m race. In her first outdoor 400 of the season, the senior ran 59.41, the top time in the MWC this season. She finished second in the 200 at 25.54, her top time of the season and the top time in the MWC in 2022.

Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois) took second in the 1500m race at 5:12.03. Mik Moore (Washington, Illinois) finished third in the 800m race at 2:30.60, beating teammate Arika Hofmann (Monmouth, Illinois) by 0.10 seconds.

Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois) took second in the long jump at 4.93m and Linsey Turner (Aurora, Illinois) finished third in the pole vault at 3.10m. Turner’s performance is the top pole vault in the MWC this season and Villarreal’s ranks second.

Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) took second in the discus with a career-high 39.99m and also finished fourth in the shot put at 11.20m. Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) was second in the javelin at 34.02m which ranks first in the MWC. Boley ranks first in the MWC this season with her throw Saturday and Kareema Lawal (Aurora, Illinois) moved into second in the hammer with a throw of 45.69m.

Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 1500m race for the second weekend in a row, this time in 4:05.92. The time was nearly six seconds faster than the weekend before at Millikin and ranks first in the MWC this season by two seconds.

Jonathan Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas) made his 2022 track debut and won the high jump at 1.95m which is tied for first in the MWC this year.. His brother Joseph Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas) also made his 2022 debut and won the triple jump with a leap of 13.32m, the top mark in the MWC this year. Joseph finished second in the long jump at 6.62m, the third best mark in the MWC.

Reed Wilson (Normal, Illinois) won the pole vault at 4.75m, the best mark in the MWC so far in 2022. Alexander Brock (Lexington, Illinois) won the 400m race in 51.69 and finished third in the 200m race at 23.32. Brock ranks second in the 400m in the MWC

Reed Bona (Dyersburg, Tennessee) finished second in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.67. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished second in the shot put at 13.28m, just ahead of Andy Bird (Hamilton, Illinois) at 13.18m. Toberman was third in the hammer throw at 49.04m while Bird was fourth in both the hammer (45.88m) and the discus (37.84m). Toberman’s hammer throw result is the top mark so far this season in the MWC.

The Scots will compete next week at Greeneville University in a Friday night meet.
