Oquawka Man Receives Certificate of Appreciation for Assisting Local Law Enforcement

Christopher Sipes of Oquawka, IL received a certificate of appreciation from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for his actions in assisting local law enforcement. On Monday, March 28th, 2022 Chris and his wife were driving home from Burlington, IA near the Carman Road when they noticed the Gulfport Police Officer attempting to arrest a man. The man resisted the Officer, punching him in the face, causing he Officer to slip and fall into the lane of traffic. The man then attempted to punch the Officer several times. Chris slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the man. Chris then got out of his vehicle and was able to help subdue the man by bear hugging him and throwing him to the ground. The Officer and Chris were then able to handcuff him. The man was identified as Diwyn Kalihah Presbery, age 29 of Philadelphia, PA. Presbery was arrested for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Controlled Substance, Obstructing Identification, and Driving While License Suspended (Presbery is presumed innocent until proven guilty). Chris was presented the commendation on Thursday, March 21st, 2022 at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. “Certificate of Appreciation is presented to Christopher Sipes, in recognition of your heroism in assisting a police officer in need, we present this certificate of commendation to Christopher Sipes; a community leader and a partner of local law enforcement. Your actions were greatly appreciated. Thank you for having our ‘6’”.  Thank you again Chris, we are glad to see citizens like you supporting our local law enforcement!
