WIU Student Employee, Supervisor of the Year Named

The winners of the Student Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year at Western Illinois University have been announced.

This year there were 20 nominations for student employee of the year and 22 nominations for supervisor of the year.

This year’s winners include:

Elizabeth Orwig, second from left, pictured with Rachael Keating, Sarah Ritter and Darcie Shinberger.

First place – Charles (Charlie) Janes, a junior law enforcement and justice administration major from Park Ridge, IL – $75 gift certificate for the University Union Bookstore, and a professional portrait by Sarah Ritter. Nomination was by Joe Roselieb – Department: Go West.

First runner-up – Elizabeth A. Orwig, a junior special education major from Ohio, IL – $50 gift certificate for the University Union Bookstore, and a professional portrait by Sarah Ritter. Nomination made by Sarah Ritter – Department of Photography and Design Production.

Logan T. Volkert, center

Second runner-up – Logan T. Volkert, a senior English major from Le Claire, IA – $25 gift certificate for the University Union Bookstore, and a professional portrait by Sarah Ritter. Nomination made by Terry Wilson – Department – WQPT-PBS – QC Campus.

Other students nominated included Ashley Danner, of Port Byron, IL; Kylie Orris, of Plymouth, IL; Emma Formhals, of Macomb; Billie Chadderon, of Bushnell, IL; Jessica Schaumb, of Streator, IL; Yosiel Montes, of Chicago; Jaclyn Janssen, of Avon, IL; Caitlin A. Bower, of North Aurora, IL; Mallory Wesley, of Good Hope, IL; Janae’ Patterson, of Macomb; Joseph (Joey) Alderson, of St. Charles, IL; Aldo Hernandez, of Kankakee, IL; Edwin Hernandez, of Kankakee, IL; Kennedy Morgan, of Chicago; Ashley Bratkovich, of Peru, IL; and Brycelynn Smith, of Freeport, IL.

Barb Slater, center

This year’s Student Employee Supervisor of the Year was Beu Health Center Deputy Director Barb Slater. She won a $50 University Union Bookstore gift certificate and a professional portrait by Sarah Ritter. The nomination was made by students Jenna Bloodworth and Kori Allen.
