Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 24, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Silas Braun. Silas’ hit in the bottom of the 8th inning vs. Peru St. Bede gave his team the walk-off win. He also had a hand in a win earlier in the week over Stark County. Entering this week, Silas was leading the Titans with a .440 batting average and slugging percentage at .560.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Cormaic Flynn. You would be hard-pressed to find a better week than what Cormaic had last week. In four games and 13 plate appearances, he reached base 11 times. Cormaic went 8-10, with 3 walks, a double, 2 home runs and 6 rbis….all while playing the highly demanding position of catcher in those four contests.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior boys track and field athlete, Kaiden Droste. Kaiden missed the first portion of the track season due to an injury sustained in football in the fall. Since he’s came back, he’s been nearly unstoppable. Kaiden placed first in the 100 meter dash and 2nd in the 400 meter dash at the Tuffy Bowen Invite in Farmington.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is boys tennis players, senior Caleb Oxley and junior Luke Foster. Caleb and Luke teamed up to place 3rd in the #1 doubles division at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational. The pair went (2-1) on the day, losing the title match to a talented duo from Dunlap. Together, they sport a record of (3-1) on the season.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior Parker Darst. What a day Parker had in a double header sweep over West Central last week. At the plate in the two games, he went 5-for-7 with 2 rbis and 2 runs scored. Parker also got the pitching win in game two, going 5.2 innings, giving up only 1 hit and 1 earned runs, while striking out 13 batters.

Congratulations to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors……. McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Kehoe Eye Care – Galesburg/Kehoe Eye Care – Monmouth
