City of Monmouth Utilizing Grant Funds to Demolish Hazardous Properties

Share

Final stages of acquiring properties around Monmouth that are beyond repair are in order says Communications Director Ken Helms:

“We actually received a grant for that last year through the Strong Communities Grant and we have a little bit of money left over, so we are just trying to grab a couple of those and get them demoed. Those will end up being vacant lots that will be available for purchase for development or by the neighbors, that kind of thing.”

The City acquires the properties from the homeowners themselves or through legal proceedings.
