Dolores Anne Hoffer, age 92, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 8:43 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. She was born May 17, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois, the duaghter of Ernest and Anna Matson Isaacson. On August 20, 1956, she married Sten Hoffer in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2018.
Dolores attended Monmouth schools, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1948. She then attended Morris Beauty School in Galesburg. Her 42 year career as a beautician first began at Bowmans-Colwell Beauty Salon in Monmouth, where she worked for 13 years. In 1965, she moved to Stronghurst and worked at Marcia’s Beauty Shop for 3 years, before operating her own salon from 1970 until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the Stronghurst Community Senior Citizens and the Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one sister: Marilyn A’Hearn of Galesburg, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Linda, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a special friend and neighbor: Sharon Hicks.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Sten, one sister: Carol, and one brother: Dean Isaacson.
The funeral service for Dolores will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Burial will be in the Monmouth City Cemetery, Monmouth, Illinois.
A visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Bethel Lutheran Church or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
