Kenny G. Barton, 74, of Kissimmee, Florida, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Galesburg, Illinois, died at 7:06 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Adventhealth Celebration in Kissimmee following a short illness.
He was born September 1, 1947, in Galesburg, the son of Kenneth L. and Martha J. (Landon) Barton. He married Mary Sweeney on December 10, 1967 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Jane Barton of Brookfield, Wisconsin and Angi (Luis) Mejia Barton of Kissimmee, Florida; five grandchildren, Alexandria Barton-Perez, Grace (Caleb) Smith, David Holzem, Beatrice Laufer, and Jonathan Laufer; siblings, Crystal (the late, Glenn) Moore of East Galesburg, Garry (Tammy) Barton of Galesburg, and Russell Barton of Galesburg; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
Kenny was raised and educated in Galesburg, where he graduated from Galesburg High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on October 27, 1966. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1968. Kenny was based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as an executive for Brookdale for many years before retiring.
Kenny was an avid jogger his whole life. He truly immersed himself in grandfatherhood. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in East Linwood Cemetery where military honors will be provided. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
