While prices at the pump continue to increase, prices for basic food items are also climbing steadily. The USDA is anticipating food prices to rise between 4.5 to 5.5 percent this year, impacting families and businesses across the country. Local business owner Doug Smith is feeling the impact of those rising costs at his hometown restaurant in Smithshire, the County Line Diner:
“Talking about food costs, eggs, everybody is aware the price of eggs right now, well, we actually have resourced from a local farm family in our area, and we are now getting farm fresh eggs. These are USDA approved. The site has been inspected and it totally legit. So, we are going to give farm fresh eggs from now on. No more of the commercial white ones. We are going to give you the big eggs and we are not even going to raise the price on that. I think it’s good. I mean, big time taste, small town feel, and we want to live that.”
County Line Diner in Smithshire celebrated their One Year Anniversary on June 7th.
