Macomb Police Investigating Train Versus Pedestrian Incident

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at approximately 5:47 pm, the Macomb Police Department
responded to the train tracks west of Bower Rd. for an accident involving a train and pedestrian.
Macomb Fire Department and Life Guard Ambulance responded and arrived on scene shortly after
officers. Upon arrival, it was determined the pedestrian was deceased. Several rail crossings were
temporarily closed during the preliminary investigation and are currently open.

The investigation is on-going, and the Macomb Police Department will continue to thoroughly
investigate this matter and request your patience and cooperation in advance. There is no indication of
foul play at this time. The Macomb Police Department was assisted by the McDonough County Sheriff’s
Office, McDonough County Coroner’s Office, Illinois State Police, and WIU- Office of Public Safety.

Please note that our hearts go out to the family of the deceased, and everyone directly impacted by this
tragic incident. We ask that the community respect the privacy of the family and involved parties and
please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
