Shortage Of Officials Threatens Iowa School Sports

Share

A shortage of football officials in Iowa could sideline some middle school and high school teams this fall. Lewie [[ LOU-ee ]] Curtis with the Iowa High School Athletic Association says a shortage of officials could lead to schedule changes, especially at the middle school level.

“Some of those lower-level games like that are really hard to find officials for. When you can’t find them, and you have to move a date, you just have the same exact problem on a different day.”

Curtis says they need 15-hundred football officials.  So far, they have about 1,000. He’s asking those interested in becoming an official, to contact the association.
