Lawrence Pat Addis

Pat Addis, age 76 (or 532 in dog years) of Oquawka, IL (formerly of Galesburg, IL) kicked the bucket on October 6, 2022 in Hiawatha, IA. He was a good man. A great man. Good looking, who got better looking every day. Witty. Smart. Perfect in every way. One hell of a man and those who knew him, loved him.  And so Humble.

In true Addis fashion he did everything his own way, and in his own time. As of such there will be no viewing or funeral, but in Spring 2023 there will be and I quote “one hell of a party.”

If you ever met Pat, you would definitely remember. You would have learned something, whether it was about dog training (he was an avid dog trainer, and judge with Hunter Retriever Club and American Kennel Club events), hunting, cars, or how to understand women and the meaning of life (you see, you just gotta go outside and find a blade of grass and ponder it, when you think you understand, you just ponder it some more). Pat was also one-third of the Addis-Ackman-Addis racing team, proud owners of “Sumpin’ Wild.” He was also a proud certified master mechanic for many years.

Pat was born November 2, 1945 in Galesburg, IL to John “Johnnie Dohrn” Addis and Eloise (Wilson) Addis. He married the love of his life Linda (Peterson) Addis December 13, 1969. They had a couple of beautiful children Brian (and Sheri) Addis, Kelly Addis, then received the blessing of raising two additional children Trenton Addis and Katie (Addis) Marshall. Proudly called Beepaw, Grandpa, and Poppa to a bunch of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Seriously, we lost count. The King’s dynasty lives on.

Pat was preceded in death by his bride of 49 years Linda Addis, his parents John and Eloise Addis, brother Mike Addis, numerous beloved pet companions, and countless friends. We are certain that they have all been waiting for him to make his arrival, and already have the song “Macho Man” playing.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Lymphoma Research Foundation in memory of Pat at Lymphoma.org For details about Pat’s celebration of life, email Trenton Addis at Taddis21@yahoo.com
