January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month. For women aged 40 to 64, services and treatment benefits are available through the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer program at the Knox County Health Department, explains Director of Wellness Erin Olson:

“It is the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer program. People are eligible for that program if they live in Knox, Warren, or Henderson Counties. They do need to be between the ages of 40 and 64 and if your health insurance will not cover it, so you can be insured, and if your health insurance won’t cover your mammogram, your pap smear, things of that nature, please go ahead and call this program because they may be eligible to help you. If your deductible is even too high, you may be eligible for this program.”

To see if you are eligible for screenings through the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer program, contact the Knox County Health Department at 309-344-2224.
