 Raymond L. Dickey, age 79, of rural Gladstone, Illinois, passed away peacefully Monday, January 9, 2023 at his home, with Becky by his side.  He was born June 12, 1943, in Oakville, Iowa, the son of John H. and Ida A. Kramer Dickey.  On August 7, 1976, he married Rebecca Lou Markham in Blandinsville, Illinois.  She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters: Tessa (Jeff) Murphy of Lakeland, FL, Jessica (Jason) Crooks of Fort Madison, IA, three sons: Jody (Rebecca) Collins of Stronghurst, IL, Josh (Jodie) Collins of Gladstone, IL, and Jason (Amber) Dickey of Geneseo, IL, twelve grandchildren: Teela, Braidon, Keelan, Tom, Stefanie, Tyler, Olivia, Carter, Caralena, Mallory, Claire, and Jacob, three great grandchildren: Emma, Arielle, and Lincoln, four sisters: Margie Knight, Karen Holub, Hilda Dickey, and Ruth Littles, one brother: Harry Dickey, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters: Leota, Verlee, Mable, Venita, Viola, and Helen, and four brothers: John, Frank, Gilbert and Donald.

Ray was employed at J.I. Case in Burlington for many years, retiring in 1992.  After his retirement, he worked for Per Mar Security and Securitas Security Services.  He was an avid motorcyclist, and he and his wife had traveled throughout the United States on their Gold Wing.  He loved tinkering, restoring and working on cars, splitting wood, pheasant hunting, lending a helping hand to anyone in need, and most of all, spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Rev. Bill Ramsdale officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Henderson Cemetery, rural Gladstone, IL.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals.  Memorials have been established for Henderson County Health Department/Hospice, and the Gladstone United Methodist Church.  Please visit Raymond’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
